Selecting a domain name

When I started out, I didn’t really give a thought about domain name.
In fact, what I did was just choose one with my name and another with a generic name, which I intend to make as my main site.

As time goes by, I realize that Selecting the right name for my website
is the most important step that I can take when starting my
business.

Why? It is because the name will tell people what the site has to
offer and will help them decide if they are interested
in looking further.

I also read somewhere that having keywords inside your domain name will help alot with the ranking of the site, albeit not entirely relying on this alone.

There are several ways that we can select our domain name
so that it stand out.. think of it like a shop name. So, obviously you want the shop name to be meaningful right?

When I was starting out, I felt overwhelmed by the many
choices that I have to make. A list definitely helped in putting it into perspective.

First of all I normally write down all the products
or services that the site will be offering and determine the target group.
This factor will help to determine the relevance of the name that I choose.

Name alone will not be sufficient, the site need to receive traffics. There are many ways to entice others to visit the it, be it through paid advertisement, link swap, or organic method such as participating in forum or email marketing. The traffic generation method alone is a huge topic on its own and will need sometimes to master.

If you still cannot make up your mind, just choose your name as a starter – it will also be good for your branding.
