About two months ago I purchased the beta version of WordPress Silo Plugin from Dan Raine and I’ve been using them on most of my sites now – yes, I’ve installed and activated them on both my 30DC style and Turbo products sites. I’ve also make use of the RSS Bomber Plugins that he gave as a bonus to the Silo. I find them really useful, especially to a lazy bum like me. Do you want to know what I like about them?
My sites use both free and paid themes and this blog itself is using elegant theme. So far I did not have any issue with both plugins breaking the themes.
It’s actually very simple to install this plugin and I don’t need to configure anything to use it.. well, except for activating it of course
.
If you click on individual post on this site, you can see how it show both the previous post and also one category from the list of categories available on the site. The picture below shows what I meant.
On the left side, you can see it linking to the previous post and on the right side it link to one of my category theme. It automatically do that on each post and I don’t need to do anything to make those links. Try clicking other post if you don’t beleive what I’m saying.
Before using this plugin, I always forget to make any cross linking with other posts on my site and to tell you the truth, I’m very lazy to do it manually. So, to me this plugin is awesome. What more can I ask
The mindmap below illustrate the simple way how this plugin works based on what I saw on my sites.
It’s cool, isn’t it? In the diagram above, I show all post 4 linking to the other category on the site, that is just for illustration purposes. I’m not sure if it always the last post that do that but I don’t care. What important is now I don’t have to consciously spend my time adding internal links on each post on my site – the plugin will do it for me. Of course I added my own interlinking once in a while (when I remember to do it
) but this thing save me a lot of time. This is especially useful if I schedule many post in advanced and forget to do the linking.
I’m sure there must be something else going with this plugin because I start seeing some of my other sites ranking for many more keywords than what I originally started with – and they are relevant keywords too!.
I don’t think Dan has released it to the public yet. Well, at least that is as far as I’m aware of. I bought it from inside the Immmediate Edge Membership under limited release back in February 2010. I’ll make an update once I know where the public can this plugins.

This little plugin has it’s own use too. Taking example of the blog post that I wrote recently. Let say if the permalink is like this:
http://suriati.com/434/john-delavera-farewell-package/
then when the post is published, RSS Bomber will automatically send a post notification containing the post feed to the email that I specified inside the plugin. The feed link will look like this:
http://suriati.com/434/john-delavera-farewell-package/feed/
I can then use that feed to submit to the many feed aggregator sites to get my sites ranked for the long tail keywords. Awesome indeed. At the moment, I have to manually submit the feed to these site as I don’t have a tool to automate it
. It also partly because I like to schedule a few posts in advance on some of my sites and this feed will not be available until the post is published.
I was hoping that Dan can make an upgrade to this plugin to include a few top aggregator site inside the plugin and let the it auto submit the post feed to these sites. Three to five should be enough as it might slow down the sites if too many are added (I can always use software to blast the feed to many feeds aggregator sites but this is not the point). A feature to schedule and spaced out the feed posting to these aggregator sites and the ability to add keywords or note to it would be welcome too! It’ll also be cool if it can deliver the notification to our email after each submission. Ahh..those feature will be awesome additions to RSS Bomber
Can you imagine what this mean if the RSS Bomber can do this?
Thanks Dan and the team for making WordPress Silo and RSS Bomber Plugins available to us

Very nice post, happy you like the plugins.
You may want to look for the linkdaemon as well, inside the Immediate Edge.
Creates links dynamically on selected keywords and works together with the Silobuilder.

Asbjorn,
Both plugins are very easy to use and they work. Big thumbs up to you, Dan and the rest of the team that work on them.
I’ll definitely check that linkdaemon

I don’t understand what RSS bomber does and why anyone would pay money for it. By default you can get a feed of all your wordpress post by just adding a /feed/rss to the end of the url: ie: http://www.domains.com/my-blog-post/feed/rss
Granted your RSS feed is slighly more SEO’ed with the related post in the feed, but you can achieve similar results using the RSS Footer plugin.
Young Chu – the plug-in creates a feed for each individual post. The idea is that instead of submitting one feed for the site and getting one potential listing you can submit a feed for every post and get many listings for the site.
@Young Chu. I’ve never tried RSS footer myself so I cannot comment on that.
I use RSS Bomber on my sites mainly because it automatically creates the feed for me and send the feed link to the email that I specified inside the plugin settings. To me, not having to do it manually is a big time saver.
Even if I scheduled many posts in advanced, it will still deliver the feed to my email when each post is live (so far, without fail
)
Let say I forget to do the pinging and feed submissions for the posts, I can always go back to my email where all the feeds are kept. Then I ask somebody to help me submit the feeds (or do it myself). I don’t need to worry as all the feed are there
If I have site with 2,000 posts already made can the RSS Bomber make an RSS feed for each of the posts and send them to me?
From what I observe, it doesn’t. It makes feed for the new post that you make after installing the plugin not for the one before that.
Hi,
Do you know if the latest version can automatically submit the feed to a list of sites?
If not, is there a list of recommended sites to submit this feed too?
Thanks
Gavin
Hi Gavin,
The plugin did not automatically submit the feed to the feed aggregator sites. I’m not sure if it will have those capabilities in the future. At the time being you’ll have to take the feeds it created and submit them. You can use software/tool for the submission or you can manually submit them.
# My favorite sites are feedagg.com and feedage.com

I just got the email about the RSS bomber plugin. Does it really give your site a rank boosting in the search engines?
RSS Bomber create a feed for your post and deliver it to your email. You’ll need to submit the post to the feed aggregator site as it doesn’t have function to automatically submit it. If you do this, then there will be higher chances your pages to rank.
You might want to check the RSS Bomber Sales Page to find out what it can do for you.
