How to use the keywords that you want to target inside your post

You have your niche ready and had done your homework on the keyword research and the commercial viability of the niches that you want to attack. You’re satisfied with the competition level that these keywords have and now is the time to make use of them. But how do you go about using these keywords in your post and on your site to optimize your on page SEO factors?

Use important keywords in the headline of your blog post

This means that you’ll need to consciously blend your main keywords inside the title and headlines of your posts. Note that if you have articles or other piece of web content that you want to link back to your site for off page SEO, then you should also use these keywords on them.

For example, if you want to target the keywords ‘knitting for beginners’, then your post need to have these keywords in your titles. You can have your titles in variation such as:

1.  Basic knitting for beginners
2.  Knitting for beginners
3.  Free knitting pattern for beginners etc.

I always try to put the main keywords at the front of the titles. By referring to the example above, I’ll have ‘knitting for beginners how to knit slippers’ instead of ‘how to knit slippers easy knitting guide for beginners’.

Another habit that I’ll always do is to have one post with the main keywords only. The intention is to not dilute the keywords so this explains why the title is short. I’ll make it longer if I’m aiming for long tail keywords.  In the context of the example above, my main keywords post will have this title ‘knitting for beginners’. Normally, I’ll do this post within the first few posts that I set up for my brand new sites.

Include these keywords in your page headings and your categories

It is a good practice to use your keywords in your headings and your site categories. This will make your site appears more relevance to the search engine spiders

Don’t forget to use your keywords inside your text

Blend the keywords naturally so that your sentence and paragraph make sense to the reader. Depending on situation, sometimes you might need to add filler words in between your keywords but try to keep them within the same order. You can even use related keywords as an alternative to your main keywords but focus on your main or theme keywords before you start doing this.

Whatever method that you use, you’ll need to write your post or article well as ultimately you’re trying to get the human to read your post. They will abandon your site if you put nonsense materials in your posts and you don’t want this to happen.

These are how I normally use keywords in my sites. There might be more that I forget to put in here but these simple ideas are good enough to get you started. To rise higher in the search engine ranking, optimizing your on page SEO alone will not be enough. You’ll need to branch further to build links to your sites. Perhaps that can be the topic for my future posts. Till then, take care ;)
